How long does the Microblading last?
This varies from person to person; everyone’s results are unique. Typically microblading lasts anywhere from 1-2 years. After your initial session, there is a mandatory 6 week perfecting touch up session. Additional sessions may be required to achieve the desired results and color retention. The results and longevity will depend on how you take care of your brows during the healing process and beyond.
Does Microblading hurt?
Pain varies from person to person; unfortunately, there is no way for us to determine how you’ll respond. We use a medical grade topical anesthetic to make the procedure as comfortable and as pain free as possible. This will be used before and during the procedure to aid in pain relief (if any). Please note that opting NOT to get the anesthetic will yield much better results when the brows heal. In our experience, the lines look crisper and skin heals much better without the anesthetic. However, we will consult you and give you our professional opinion which can determine which option works best for you.
How long is the recovery or healing time?
Everyone heals differently, but it typically takes approximately 7-14 days. Your skin may appear a bit red after your procedure, but that should fade very quickly depending on your sensitivity. For the first 2 days, your brows will appear darker and bolder in shape. On the 5th to 7th day following your procedure, your brows will flake and the color of the tattoo will appear as though it has disappeared. Don’t fret! The color will reappear as the skin regenerates, and the color takes on new strength as the skin heals. The true color of the microblading should be visible on the 6th week following the procedure.
How do you choose the shape?
At the beginning of your appointment, we will discuss what you want your new brows to look like (pictures help as references, so bring your brow inspo!). Then your artist will create a brow design specific to your facial bone structure, and desired finished look. Your artist will take measurements to make the brows as symmetrical as possible and will position them appropriately.
What types of pigments do you use?
We use pigments which are made specifically for permanent cosmetics and microblading. All pigments are cruelty free and vegan.
How do you choose a color?
We choose a color together and select the best match for your skin tone, features, and personal preference. We choose a color that matches your natural brow hair. If you tint your brows regularly you MUST tint them 2-3 days prior to your appointment. Also remember, while choosing your color it will fade about 20-50% after your first visit.
Do I need a consultation before getting Microblading?
No. Our consultation is done via email. At this time, we will discuss your desired brow shape and color. You will also be required to send photos of your brows without makeup via email. If you have additional questions after reading this FAQ page, we are more than happy to answer them via email at: Jennifer@browdownstudio.com.
How long does the procedure take?
The microblading service is split into 2 appointments. Your initial session will take approximately 2- 2.5 hours. Your perfecting session 6-8 weeks later will take approximately 1.5- 2 hours. Please note these times may vary slightly.
Should I clean up my brows before my appointment?
No. Leave every hair as it is; we prefer it that way and we will take care of it. However, if you wish to have them shaped prior to your appointment, please do so 4 days prior to your microblading appointment.
Who is ineligible for Microblading?
We do not provide microblading for anyone who is: under the age of 18 years old, pregnant and/or nursing, those with diabetes, glaucoma, or skin diseases such as shingles, psoriasis or eczema on the area of treatment, or those with allergies to makeup, Keloid disorder, HIV/Hepatitis, skin cancer, hemophilia, or if you're taking skin medications such as accutane and/or steroids. You must be off of accutane for 6 months prior to any appointment. If you are unsure if you fall into any of the above-listed categories, consult your physician prior to scheduling any procedure of this kind.

How do touch ups work?
After your first visit, you will book your mandatory perfecting session 6 to 8 weeks later for $50. After the 8 weeks the price increases, and will count as a 2-4 month touch up service. Please note that we also have the following touch up service options: 2-4 month touch ups, 4-9 month touch ups, 9-12 month touch up, and 12-18 month touch ups. After 18 months, the price returns to full price. Please note: additional sessions may be required to achieve the desired results and color retention after your initial and perfecting session.
Do you do touch ups from other artists?
Yes. We charge $300-$550. Price will be determined after email consultation with Jenny. Please email photos of your current brows and include date of your last microblading service. (Email: firstname.lastname@example.org). Please note that there is a possibility that we may not be able to work on your brows.
What is the aftercare?
You must stay out of the sun, sauna, and direct water. No excessive sweating or working out for at least 7 days following the procedure. Day 8, you may return to light exercise. Avoid chlorine, exfoliation creams, and sun exposure; they may cause your color to fade. Your artist will provide you with a detailed instructions card so you don’t forget how to care for your amazing new eyebrows!
How can I book an appointment?
Appointments are scheduled online by following the online booking link at www.browdownstudio.com. Prior to us confirming your appointment, you will receive an email with two forms which MUST be completed prior to your appointment. Once we review your forms, you will be sent an invoice for a non-refundable deposit of $100 to secure all NEW/FULL SERVICE appointments and the remaining balance will be due the day of appointment. In the case we are unable to perform microblading due to medical conditions, previous brow tattoo’s and/or microblading, we will email you stating the reason why.
*Please note that final results can not be guaranteed due to the nature of skin as it heals, and follow-up appointment is mandatory at 6 weeks where we can assess your pigment retention and make any changes necessary. People with lighter hair, oily skin, correction work or sparse eyebrows may require more than one follow-up to reach their desired look at an additional cost.
